Yellow, Orange & Red Lights

in HōlHōm Lights and Events

Why is the yellow, orange, or red light on?

If you are receiving electricity prices from your smart meter, the yellow, orange, or red lights come on (in that order) to indicate the price of electricity.  No light indicates the electricity price is low and the red light indicates the electricity price is high.

  • NO LIGHT: the price of electricity is in Tier 1 (low).
  • YELLOW: the price of electricity is Tier 2.
  • ORANGE: the price of electricity is Tier 3.
  • RED: the price of electricity is Tier 4 or higher.

To save on electricity costs, try to avoid using your clothes dryer, stove or oven when the pricing lights are illuminated. Run appliances which consume a lot of electricity when the price is lower.
