Brown Out Fault

in HōlHōm Errors and Warnings

Why does HōlHōm display the message “BROWN OUT FAULT”?

Your HōlHōm requires power to operate and can tolerate voltages between 18 and 30 volts AC.  If the power drops below about 16 volts, it will display the “BROWN OUT FAULT” message.  The message displays in full-screen mode, and the backlight flashes on and off until you acknowledge the message. The message then appears in the status line of the home screens until the power levels return to normal.

  1. Remove HōlHōm from the mounting bracket and make sure that the “R” and “C” wires are securely connected to the thermostat.
  2. Check the wiring at the HVAC equipment to make sure the “R” and “C” wires are securely connected.
  3. You may have a problem with your transformer or HVAC equipment and should call an HVAC technician to have them checked.

Note: If you see this message, your HVAC equipment will not run until the voltage is fixed.
